BBC Gardeners’ World Live with LPMSC
We are fast approaching the 2021 BBC Gardeners World Live event at the NEC, and for the fifth time, our Centre has entered with a show garden created jointly with our incredible partners at Derby College – Broomfield Campus. Many of you will remember our first show in 2016 – a border garden-themed on “Hope For The Future” featuring the colours of the MS Society and winning a GOLD Award. The following year the team created a massive garden with a river, bridge, cave and waterfall themed on the journey with MS and the support the Centre provides to all affected by the condition. That garden was the “base” for Monty Don’s TV presentation, and we shared our MS Branch’s 60th-anniversary cake with him. That year, the garden was awarded a Silver Merit.
2019 and the students at Broomfield created as a theme another border garden based on Lewis Carroll’s “The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe”. It only went and won a Platinum Award and Best Interpretation, 2019 bringing the most outstanding design yet – lauded by the organisers and taking centre stage at the show – The Revelation Garden featuring four extraordinary carved (out of driftwood) full size galloping horses. This won our second Silver Merit award.
This year we are entirely themed on accessibility for all. Once again, the Broomfield Horticultural students have produced a terrific design based on our theme. Come along, support us or just come to see all the fabulous gardens at the show. The show opens to the public from Thursday 26 August through to Sunday 29 August.
