LPMSC Tent on Tour
Being out and about in the local community enables us to share with the public what a fantastic MS centre we have in Derby, we raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis, raise funds and show the public the reason we volunteer.
Several times a year we take our tent into the local community (hopefully on a nice warm, sunny day) visiting fetes and carnivals, in recent years we have been welcomed at Little Eaton, Duffield, Melbourne, Horsley Woodhouse, Oakwood and many others.
This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with the public answering questions about MS, the centre and what services we provide, if we don’t know the answer we direct them to MS National, provide them with information leaflets or arrange for one of our centre users who have MS to contact them.
We also have many promotional items such as pens, wristbands and stick on bugs. To help us raise funds we entice people with games like ‘find the wine’ and hold raffle tombolas.
But most important to us is raising awareness of MS and being there for people who have been newly diagnosed or their family and friends.
